Design
With over 500 in-stock engagement rings and wedding bands, you can rest assured that your ring design will be as unique as the love of your life. By using different desirable elements from our extraordinary selection we are confident we’ll be able to design the perfect piece for you. Also prior to your visit we encourage you to research different magazines and jewelry sites on the web to have an idea of what you like and don’t like. There are no limitations to what we can create for you, whether the design is a stunning piece for a woman or custom men’s jewelry. In fact, we are able to expertly replicate any design to the highest standards of quality as long as it is not copyrighted. Please call us to discuss!
Estimate
Once your choice of design, gemstones and metal quality is determined we will be able to provide you with an estimate for the finished product. In most cases, we can work within your budget by manipulating the grade of material. Experience has shown us that 90% of the time our customers fall in love with our first design and normally require slight changes.
Your estimate includes two minor changes. To be fair, if you require any more changes to your original design then we have to charge you $75.00 per hour for the time to recreate the model. This price will include design time, creating one prototype, precious metals, gemstones & diamonds, and the labor to assemble the jewelry. Upon your approval, the full amount due must be paid up front before any work is done. All custom pieces are non-refundable and non-returnable.
3D Modeling
RK & Co. Jewelers’ designers will create precise 3D computer models of your custom designed jewelry. Rendered images of your 3D model can be emailed to you or viewed in person by visiting the store to verify your design’s accuracy with confidence.
Computer Aided Design is a sophisticated modeling process using advanced software to plot coordinates for mechanical drawings. These drawings can be exported to various types of prototyping machines called CNC mills. CNC mills cut-away material from a block of wax to make the jewelry model. The precision of these models exceeds what any human could do while hand carving the jewelry model. Design possibilities become limitless because the 3D-CAD software enables the designer to create parts and design elements that aren’t possible using outmoded tools and methods.
Another benefit of 3D-CAD jewelry design is the ability to see a computer rendering before the final completion of the jewelry. In old methods the jeweler would create crude counter sketches of your concept and the rest would be left to your imagination. Now the designs that the jeweler creates in 3D-CAD can be rendered to photo-realistic images for you to view before making your final decisions.
The Production Process
We will create a full-size wax version of your design. This prototype is full-scale and will show you the exact detail and dimensions of your project. Your jewelry is made using a method called lost wax casting. This wax prototype also known as a “model” is placed in a flask and plaster called “investment” is poured all around the model. Once the investment hardens an exact impression of the model is formed inside of the flask. The wax model is burned out of the flask leaving a cavity of the jewelry design.
Next, molten metal is injected in the flask mold using vacuum or centrifugal casting. When the metal cools and hardens the investment is broken away revealing the un-finished jewelry casting. This casting is filed, polished and prepped for assembly. Finally your gemstones will be set into the polished piece by our most experienced jewelers, ensuring you receive a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece of heirloom-quality jewelry that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
Lifetime Warranty
Each custom designed piece created by RK & Co. Jewelers comes with a lifetime warranty protecting against any defect resulting from its manufacture. Every piece must be inspected and signed for every 6 months by RK & Co. Jewelers. If it is determined that your jewelry needs repair or maintenance due to wear and tear or damage, you must follow the recommendation for the necessary repairs or your warranty will become void.
RK & Co. Jewelers will fix or replace any side diamonds (not center diamonds or gemstones) that are lost due to normal wear and tear at no charge to you. Any damage or abuse to the original quality of the jewelry will void the warranty. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to insure their jewelry against any damage or loss by including the jewelry in their homeowner or renters’ policy.
If there is any damage, abuse, modification or alteration to the center diamond or gemstone all warranties through RK & Co. Jewelers become void.
RK & Co. Jewelers reserves the right to cancel any custom design order due to abuse or unreasonable demands by the purchaser. Due to the intensive labor involved in custom design jewelry all custom work is final. No refunds, no exchanges, and no trades will be issued for any custom design work.

What If I Need To Purchase A Diamond For A Custom Engagement Ring Design?
RK & Co. Jewelers carries a nice variety of loose diamonds in all different shapes with very competitive prices. If we happen not to have access to the exact diamond or gemstone you like, we can certainly get it for you. Once you purchase a diamond, we’ll set the diamond aside until our jewelers are ready to complete your custom jewelry design.
Is Custom Jewelry Design Expensive?
No. In fact, RK & Co. Jewelers makes custom jewelry very affordable! The reason is because we are a family owned and operated business with lower operational expenses, unlike our competitors. We encourage you to check us out online and read some of our reviews.
How Much Does Custom Jewelry Cost?
Custom work is priced out in 5 components: (1) the cost to create the wax prototype, (2) the cost for your metal of choice, (3) the cost for the diamonds and/or gemstones, (4) the cost of labor to assemble and finish the piece, and (5) the computer time to create the computerized 3D model. RK & Co. Jewelers will provide you a quote that allows for subtle alterations after the creation of the 3D CAD model. However, if you require any large-scale changes, you may be billed at $75 an hour.
How Long Will My Order Take?
The quoting process takes about 3 days depending on the amount of correspondence required. The computer rendering takes about 7 days to create from the time that you place the deposit on the order. The completion and assembly takes about 3 weeks upon approval of the computer rendering. Most projects take about 4 weeks from beginning to end; however, if you have specific time requirements or need it sooner please inform us and we’ll make special arrangements for you.
What If I Don’t Like The Finished Product?
RK & Co. Jewelers takes extreme care when communicating with you and when creating the computer renderings. You will be involved in every step of the process to ensure that you’ll get exactly what you want. We’ll always take the necessary steps to provide vivid photography and computer renderings so that you have a clear impression of how your jewelry will look before it’s made thereby ensuring your satisfaction.
How Does The Process Of Designing And Creating Custom Jewelry Work?
The idea behind custom-designed jewelry is to take an original idea, or a culmination of several designs, and create something that is unique and special as the person that it is for. To accommodate this, you simply provide us with an idea or a well thought out design, your specifications, and requirements. Using CAD-CAM, our designers will custom create a computer-generated image of your vision. After the computer drawing is finished, we send you a copy of the computer-generated image then you tell us what needs to be changed or re-done. After your confirmation, a wax model is casted to then mold the final product around. The final product is then casted into the metal of your choice. Then we set your stones, and add final touches such as milgrain and engraving.
